alpaca walking experience

Based on the tranquil isle of Anglesey, off the northwest coast of Wales, Anglesey Alpacas invite you
to enjoy the charming company of our adorable alpacas, on a guided walk through the beautiful
scenery of this ancient island. Walk alongside your own alpaca, on a trail across lush meadows
stopping to take photographs of your gentle companion and making memories to last a lifetime.

FOOTWEAR

Even though it is often sunny on Anglesey, the fields and paths we walk on can be damp, muddy and uneven so suitable footwear, like walking boots or wellies, are advised.

YOUNG WALKERS

Children (5 – 12 years old) are welcome on our walks and enjoy meeting these gentle creatures.
However, like many larger animals, they need respect and it is important to follow the guide’s instructions when handling them. Only the Responsible Adult can really judge whether a child is able to help them hold a halter or walk the distance. We politely request that children try not to make loud noises and run around the alpacas during the walks as this stresses them. Thank you

After a lot of consideration and much discussion with parents of under 5s we have decided to offer a Meet and Greet experience for this age group which is more suitable than the Alpaca Walk for safety reasons.

ALPACA WALKING PRICES

• Alpaca walks are £25 per adult (12+) with one alpaca each

• One alpaca between two adults is £40

• 12 year olds and over are £25 to lead their own alpaca or £15 to accompany a paying adult.

• Children aged 6 – 11 are £15 each. Although they are not allowed to lead the alpaca on their own they can accompany/help a paying adult – one child per adult.

There is no charge for babies in back-packs carried by a paying adult.

WALKING TIMES & WHERE TO MEET

Walks start at 11am and 2pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with Meet and Greet Experiences on Sundays.

For the consideration of other guests we cannot delay the start of a trek. Please check the directions in advance – see our FAQ page for map etc. Unfortunately anyone more than 10 minutes late will forfeit their walk. Please make sure you can get to the address on time thank you

We do not walk the alpacas at our farm so please try not to arrive at the Marram Grass too early as you will just be waiting for us to arrive!

We usually walk at weekends, although bookings for four or more alpacas, private parties, hens etc can be made for midweek at times to suit.

Your experience begins by having a short informative talk about all about alpacas. Then you meet your alpaca friend for the day and begin the walk which is a gentle stroll at alpaca pace through wildlife rich habitat at the White Lodge Caravan Park / Marram grass in Newborough.

Each walk experience takes 60 to 90 minutes, - depending on the trekkers’ walking pace and how many stops we make for the alpacas to have a much on the grass along the way. Then we return to the start for feeding time at the walk’s end – with yet more photo-opportunities, including the inevitable alpaca selfies!
